Forbes “World’s Most Powerful Women” List 2015: Beyonce + More Stars Make Cut
The outlet unveiled its 2015 list of influential ladies on Tuesday, with German chancellor Angela Merkel again scoring the number one spot, followed by Hillary Clinton and Melinda Gates. Michelle Obama clocked in at number 10, and Oprah Winfrey landed 12th.
Further down on the list, Beyoncé won the number 21 spot, and Anna Wintour isn’t far behind at 28. At 50 is Ellen DeGeneres, while Jolie is 54 and Sofia Vergara is 57. Swift is in 64th place, and has the distinction of being the youngest honoree at age 25.
Designers Tory Burch (73) and Diane von Furstenberg (75) were both included, too, and Shakira placed at 81. Others who ranked include Nancy Pelosi, Ariana Huffington, Queen Elizabeth, Greta Van Susteren, Marissa Mayer, and Sheryl Sandberg. Forbes says its methodology was based on “money, media momentum, spheres of influence and impact.”
As Gossip Cop reported at the time, Lady Gaga and Giselle Bundchen were featured last year, but both failed to make the 100 cut this time around. Forbes says Beyoncé, Swift, Jolie, and the other stars who secured spots for 2015 are “all at the top of their game and are committed to inspiring change.” The site writes, “These women are entertainers and newsmakers, but they’re also ambassadors for meaningful causes and entrepreneur.” What do you think of the list?
