“Flip Or Flop” NOT Over, Despite Report
“Flip Or Flop” is NOT “over,” despite a new tabloid cover story. Gossip Cop can correct the premature report.
The new issue of In Touch touts a “world exclusive,” exclaiming, “‘Flip Or Flop’ Shocker: The Show Is Over!” The same headline appears inside the edition, where it’s alleged Christina and Tarek El Moussa’s “behind the scenes drama on ‘Flip or Flop’ has become so bad it’s forced them to shut down the show.” Calling this a “well-kept secret,” the magazine claims “there are no plans for a new season of the hit HGTV show after season 7 airs later this year.”
“They won’t go beyond what they’ve already shot,” a so-called “high-level network” source is quoted as saying, even though “high-level network” employees don’t typically talk to tabloids. “Christina and Tarek won’t be filming more episodes. Season 7 is their last.”
A purported “production source” also flat-out asserts, “‘Flip or Flop’ is wrapped with no intention of coming back… ‘Flip Or Flop’ is canceled.” What’s more is the gossip outlet alleges Christina is now “looking to land her own show.” An “insider” contends, “She’s shopping around an interior design show. She’s drawing a lot of interest and feels HGTV will let her out of her contract.”
In Touch doesn’t explain, however, why Christina would be beholden to a show contract if HGTV has, in fact, canceled her series, as the article claims. From what Gossip Cop has learned, though, no decision has been made about the fate of “Flip Or Flop” at this time. While it’s possible season 7 may end up being the last, an eighth season has not been officially ruled out, and talks are ongoing.
While this misleading cover story makes it seem like the show is already dead and buried, there may be life in it yet. And in the meantime, Christina isn’t striking out on her own, though a solo show would likely be of interest should “Flip Or Flop” actually end. At this point, though, it is premature to declare the program is “over.”
