50 Shades of Grey New Trailer

The new trailer for Fifty Shades of Grey premiered during Thursday’s “Scandal” on ABC. The fervor leading up to the new preview has been strong, with teases on Twitter and the release of seconds-long clips and promo posters over the last few weeks. You can finally watch below!

Did the new trailer deliver on the hype? The scenes showcased young business tycoon Christian Grey’s first meeting with the virginal Anastasia Steele, with sparks flying at subsequent run-ins. Things soon turn heated as he invites her into his sexually adventurous world and a wild love affair blossoms. “Why are you changing me?” she asks him. Grey replies, “I’m not. It’s you that’s changing me.”

Grey and Steele, of course, are played by Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson. They are joined in the movie by Rita Ora, Marcia Gay Harden, and Luke Grimes. The film is an adaptation of the best-selling erotic novel of the same name by E L James. The first trailer was released in July, set to a new version of “Crazy in Love” by Beyoncé, while this one featured her song “Haunted.” As Gossip Cop reported at the time, it set the Internet afire, and earned the ire of conservative groups, who blasted the project as “mommy porn” that is “promoting sexual violence.”

In an interview released earlier this month, Dornan rejected those characterizations. “I think it’s very hard to argue that when it is all consensual. Half the book is about making contracts. Permission and agreement that this be done,” said the actor, adding, “There’s no rape, no forced sexual situations.” Dornan also broke the news that viewers won’t actually see his penis onscreen, despite the large amount of sexual content in the film. He explained, “You want to appeal to as wide an audience as possible without grossing them out. You don’t want to make something gratuitous, and ugly, and graphic.”

Fifty Shades of Grey opens in theaters on February 13, 2015. Check out the new trailer below. Tell us what you think in the comments!
