Fans React: Lil Wayne Retiring?
Lil Wayne suggested he may be retiring from music, and now fans are reacting to the possibility. See reaction tweets below.
Early Saturday morning, Wayne tweeted, “I AM NOW DEFENSELESS AND mentally DEFEATED & I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I’m dun.” A few hours later, he added, “ain’t lookin for sympathy, just serenity.” And then a few hours after that, he assured, “I’m good y’all don’t trip.”
Of course, Wayne’s messages never mentioned retirement or even music, but that’s how fans have been interpreting the comments. The iconic rapper’s tweets were sent hours after he thanked the Miami police department for “always being alert, attentive, & appropriate,” though no context for that was given either. In June, Wayne suffered seizures, a recurring health problem he’s battled in recent years, and he’s still warring with Birdman on the music front.
Now, in response to the idea of Wayne potentially leaving the music industry, both “Wayne” and “Carter 3” have become trending topics on Twitter. @tufffkitty tweeted, “Wayne retiring is actually a big deal. If he not in your top 5 legendary rappers, he gotta be in your top 10.” @GivVi_G pointed out, “Dear Lil Wayne, remember on Mr Carter, released in 2008, you said ‘2 words you’ll NEVER hear, WAYNE QUIT.’ So??”
“So Wayne just gonna retire from the rap game and still haven’t dropped the Carter 5…,” wrote @JTerrorByte. @MatthewKick observed, “Everybody retiring in 2016 – Kobe – Wayne – Obama.” @_MarcusAB had mixed feelings, expressing, “If Wayne never drop another track, he’s already one of the best ever. Don’t wanna see em go out like this though.”
On the other hand, @big_mac135 felt, “Wayne can retire i wont even be mad he’s blessed us with so much he deserves to kick back and relax.” @shadejenifer declared, “One of the GOATS Thanks Wayne.” @SonyaTeclai similarly said, “Wayne is a GOAT. We witnessed greatness from the Hot Boys until now. In his countless primes, he has proven himself.”
And @QuickTempa argued, “You can not like Wayne’s music, but to say he isn’t a great is just crazy. Most of your favorite rappers grew up on him & look up to him.” It’s important to stress that amid all this chatter about Wayne’s tweets, there has not been official confirmation of a retirement. Gossip Cop is seeking clarification.
