The Expendables 2 Blows Away Box Office

They’ve still got it!

The Expendables 2, the over-the-top shoot-em-up film, featuring Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jason Statham, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris and virtually every other action star of the past three decades, won the box office with $28.8 million in ticket sales.

Coming in second was last week’s champ, The Bourne Legacy, which earned $17 million.

Animated feature ParaNorman took third place with $14 million.

Political comedy The Campaign and Sparkle, featuring the late Whitney Houston, nabbed fourth and fifth places with $13.4 million and $12 million, respectively.

Rounding out the Top 10 were The Dark Knight Rises ($11.1 million), The Odd Life of Timothy Green ($10.9 million), the Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones comedy Hope Springs ($9.1 million), Diary of a Wimpy Kid 3 ($3.9 million), and Total Recall ($3.5 million).

    There are only a handful of actors for whom I will spend money to see their movie at the theater. All but three of them are in this movie! Get the popcorn and the soda ready cause I’ll be there to see Chuck Norris most of all!

    It’s expected to get $30 million. It doesn’t mean it will happen. I can expect rain today and it may not come.

    HAVE THE FIRST ONE ON DVD……ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT…..WENT TO SEE THE SECOND…….ABSOLUTELY ….FANTASTIC….GOING TO SEE IT AGAIN…..AND THEN BUY DVD……NOW HOPING FOR THRID….

    Chuck Norris is in it? I thought he retired to a condo in florida. Does his face still look super tight from all that plastic surgery? I love Jason Statham, balding and beautiful.

    Well, that’s one way to put a positive spin on the failure to meet industry analysts expectations of a $35M weekend opener. I hope it holds up well though – I love old school style action movies.

    That is hardly blowing away the box office. It did less then the first one on its opening weekend a few weeks ago. It should do really good internationally anyway that is were the first one made most of its money.
