EXCLUSIVE STATEMENT!

UPDATED at 2:40PM Eastern:

A rep for Robert Pattinson has given GossipCop.com an exclusive statement regarding the actor’s supposed interview with The Mirror:

“I will only comment on matters regarding Robert’s professional life, but in order to set the record straight, Robert did not speak to the Mirror, and their claim that they spoke to him a few days ago is manufactured along with any information that they claim to have as an exclusive directly from him.”

Gossip Cop thinks we can close the book on this one.

10:22 AM

The Daily Mirror, out of England, claims in a headline: “Twighlight exclusive – Robert Pattinson: I haven’t got a girlfriend.” Exclusive nonsense.

Let’s look at some of the facts, shall we?

First, these clowns can’t even spell “Twilight” correctly in the headline.

Next, after the “exclusive” begins, it notes that Pattinson and Kristen Stewart “were caught snuggling up together at a Kings of Leon concert in Vancouver where they’re filming the hotly-awaited movie sequel The Twilight Saga: New Moon.” Doh! They’re filming “Eclipse.”

So maybe this “exclusive” is just an old exclusive. But in the next paragraph it reads, “In an exclusive interview with the vampire just days before the pictures [of him and Stewart] were taken, heart-throb Robert insists he’s still single and adds: “I don’t have a girlfriend.”

A few things come to mind: (1) the story sounds made up (2) why would the Mirror hold onto an “exclusive” interview with Pattinson for about a week before publishing it (3) the star was in Los Angeles at around the time of the alleged interview, and Gossip Cop knows for a fact that he was not sitting down to talk about his personal life (4) the story sounds made up. Oh, did we say that already? And (5) no one from the Mirror could answer Gossip Cop’s question about when or where the interview was conducted, but said they would get back to us (we’re still waiting).

Even though we’ve established that this “exclusive” seems fabricated, we’ll still share with you a couple of “quotes” – for laughs – that the Mirror claims the incredibly popular and private star said.

Among the nuggets are “You always think you’re going to get more girls after you’ve made a movie and it never happens,” and “You sit there and you’re like ‘I’m a big movie star and I want to go out with some models’ but I don’t know why that doesn’t happen.”

It’s pieces like this that make Gossip Cop want to “Moon” the Mirror.

THANK YOU…Why the HELL did People pick that up. Isn’t People supposed to be reputable?!

Thanks for clearing up the garbage. I wish more people would check facts before beleiving all the crap out there.
By the way, I think Rob did mak the model comment or some version of it as a joke while doing promotional interviews for Twilight. He’s funny.

  • Jbug

Can’t you just call Rob’s people and get a statement of “fake” regarding this article? You got Kristen’s rep to deny the “moving in” comments. Oh, and your timeline for where Rob was is wrong. He would have been in Vancouver during this alleged interview. Rob does say funny things like the model comments (he made a joke once about wanting a woman with defined abs. It was made on video as a joke, but some touted it as truth). Sometimes these things are not printed as being made in jest. Just pointing that out because it’s a slippery slope if we start judging these things but what he would or wouldn’t say. How would any of us know for sure?

Thank you Gossip cop!! The first tip off that it was garbage was the fact that it was an “exclusive” coming from The Daily Mirror. Really ?? Hmm you mean Rob Pattinson the “it” guy of the moment sat down with The Daily Mirror for a joke and smoke about his personal life?? Yeah… didn’t think so since The Daily Mirror is about as reliable as Star magazine or the National Enquirer..now what Hollywood star do you know that has ever sat down and gave an exclusive to either of those rags. That would be none..because they are too busy suing rags like these.! It doesn’t take too many brain cells rubbing together to figure out these were old quotes taken from old interviews and mashed together then stamped with an “exclusive” stamp. Gossip Cop rocks it yet again!!

  • Jbug

As I like to look at this from both sides, I wonder if there would be such fervor across the net to prove an interview fake if it included Rob professing his undying love for Kristen in detail. Curious.

I like how we all know exactly what Rob would say and who he would talk to. So much assertion of “factual thinking” by people regarding Rob’s private life. I wonder often about the criteria used to determine what is real or not real. As an outsider to the whole fiasco involving Rob and Kristen (because if they are or aren’t together…what does it matter?). I tend to notice that pro-Rob and Kristen being together is more easily accepted as real then anything against Rob and Kristen being together. I’m not claiming this article is fact at all, so don’t bash me for trying to say that it is real.

I still say debunk it as fake with his reps. Or at least try.

OLD INTERVIEW(s) passed off as NEW. Very obvious. Thanks for being on top of this GOSSIPCOP. I’m not surprised at The Mirror, they’re bloody awful. But my GOD, what in hades is happening to People Magazine? It NEVER used to use LESS reputable gossip rags as SOURCE material. How stupid of them. Especially considering they just published a huge cover story on Pattinson’s love for his co-star Stewart. Are they debunking themselves now? Or is this a case where People Mag’s left hand has never been intro’d to the right. Talk about unecessary idiocy on their part. Look, a very good bellweather to debunking a story like the Mirror’s are these outdated quotes from the subject that have appeared elsewhere in old print or video interviews. Do these rags KNOW the kind of expert Pattinson fanbase they’re dealing with? I’m an online publisher so I’m well aware. It becomes evident when you read quotes from the subject (in this case Pattinson)that cannot be connected to a CURRENT timeline. The subject makes no mention of, New Moon (shot last spring), his subsequent film, Remember Me, his various award show wins, Comic Con appearances, his daily onslaught from papz and fans while filming in NYC, no mention of the films upcoming at all – INSTEAD it’s just Pattinson on Twilight the movie that came out a year ago and generalities about ‘newfound fame’ – hard to date, movie fame not what it’s cracked up to be, etc. These are really deceptive practices, and the more they are roundly debunked within minutes, the further the loss of credibility and revenue. The stupidity ASTOUNDS. Also to the poster who claims why not the vociferous reaction when reports claim Pattinson and Stewart are together-well, 2 reasons:1) they ARE together.2)There simply are more fans that are interested in what they believe to be a real life offscreen romance having originated on the set of a romantic film ala Brangelina, than there are envious hater types who don’t want to see that. (yet another reason why publications trying to spin falsely mystifies

Thanks for clearing the Rob/Kristen deal up for me because until this moment, I didn’t know it was absolute proven fact. Good for them. Now that we know this for certain, I’m sure the media mess will die down. Wish I would’ve read your post sooner.

  • Jbug

“2)There simply are more fans that are interested in what they believe to be a real life offscreen romance having originated on the set of a romantic film ala Brangelina, than there are envious hater types who don’t want to see that.”

I love this argument, by the way. If someone doesn’t believe in the romance, they are jealous, haters, blind, stupid, delusional and envious. Fabulous emotional retorts that have no place in a hardcore debate. But keep them coming because they’re so easy to disregard.

  • Brenda

To Jbug: in reality most fans just ask for accuracy. Last year fans would call any story that implied Kristen an Robert had a secret love etc fake because at the time she was in a relationship with Michael Angarano. Comment sections would go on endlessly asking these bloggers to stop insisting on a romance that didn’t exist. So it’s not necessarily that fans only tend to believe stories that claim they’re together now are authentic but rather fans are more in tune to the actors personal lives than the media (whether this is a good or a bad thing is a different discussion altogether) and essentially have a better understanding of what’s possibly really going on.

  • Susan

I’m glad you cleared this up but it left me with another question. Rob hasn’t issued any comments on anything in the past. What about his article made him or his people (didn’t realize he had a rep either!) feel they needed to comment on this one considering some of the other stuff that’s been printed that was worse…ie – sex tapes, pregnancies, etc.

    Just thinkin……..

  • Jbug

Gossip cop…thank you for getting a statement!

Brenda…your comment gives me hope that people want the truth. There’s a lot of crazy stuff out there. Good to read your post.

  • Facebook User

Wow guys, so glad you all cleared this up for me…I didn’t realize that Robert had issued a formal statement concerning his love for Kristen. Jesus!! This Robsten thing is ridiculous. Maybe they are together maybe they aren’t but people need to just leave it all alone and let whatever is going to happen, happen. I don’t understand why everyone is so desperate for what happens on screen to translate over to real life…it just makes no sense to me. Let them be happy with their own seperate lives and if those lives come together so be it, but until then the papz and fangirls need to leave it alone. >:(
