Maksim Chmerkovskiy: ‘I’m Done Dancing,’ But May Take New ‘Position’ (EXCLUSIVE)
Maksim Chmerkovskiy is done as a “Dancing with the Stars” dancer — although he could ultimately take a different role on the competition series.
The “bad boy of the ballroom” announced his decision on Tuesday’s “The View,” telling the disappointed hosts and audience, “I’m done dancing. I feel like it’s time.”

He explained that when he returned to the show this past season after his 2012 departure, it was “not the same,” and he wants new talent to have the chance to shine.
But NOT SO FAST on talk that he’s leaving “Dancing with the Stars” entirely.
In his recent interview with Gossip Cop, Chmerkovskiy exclusively told us:
“I think I made it clear that up until last season, the show and I had a bad [relationship]… We were separated, a trial separation [during the time he left the show]. And then last season, I think maybe it’s because I took time off and it was lengthy time off, longer than before, or because I’ve matured, maybe we’ve all matured, but last season was unbelievable. Not just because Meryl [Davis] and I won, but because of the way everything came together, and I fell in love with the show. So whatever position I would be in, it’ll be welcomed by me with open arms and I’ll do my best.”
Could he be leaving the door open for a reappearance as a judge?
A source tells Gossip Cop that is what Chmerkovskiy would like to do.
Time will tell.
