Evan Rachel Wood Defends Justin Bieber, Slams Singer’s “High and Mighty” Critics
Evan Rachel Wood is the latest star coming to the defense of Justin Bieber, joining Ariana Grande as a Bieber supporter in the wake of a new video surfacing of him asleep in bed, filmed by a woman who people speculate may be a prostitute.
Asked about Bieber in an interview with The Daily Beast, the Charlie Countryman star shares, “I can’t imagine what it’s like to be him. When you’re a teenager in an adult career, people expect you to be perfect and expect you to never make mistakes or to be a reckless teenager.” Wood offers, “And then when you are [reckless], they give you such a really hard time for it. You have to remind them that you’re still a kid.”
The star goes on to say, “Like, do people remember when they were that age? On this global level, people freak out. They like to be high and mighty and say, ‘Oh, look at that person. I’ve never done anything like that.’ But yes you have. Everyone’s been a crazy kid.” Wood, who began her career at age nine, tells the site she faced similar criticism in her younger years. “I was never a Bieber or a Cyrus, but I think the judgment was there, sure,” reveals the actress.
