Enrique Iglesias: Damage To Drone-Cut Hand Much “Worse” Than Thought
Enrique Iglesias’ right hand was damaged “worse” than originally thought after a drone sliced his fingers during a concert in Mexico on Saturday, says his team. Not only did he require reconstructive surgery, but the singer also had a fracture that needed to be fixed.
As Gossip Cop reported, while performing his “Sex and Love Tour,” Iglesias often takes a drone that flies above his shows to capture footage and holds it out towards the audience so the crowd can see his perspective from the stage. But during his weekend concert at Plaza de Toros de Playas in Tijuana, while Iglesias attempted to hold onto the flying machine, it cut open his right hand (video below). Iglesias began to bleed profusely and, though he was advised to end his concert, he continued to perform. By the end of the show, however, Iglesias’ hand and white T-shirt were completely bloodied.
Following the show, Iglesias rushed to the airport and flew to L.A. for surgery. On Monday, he was operated on, but apparently his injury was more severe than anticipated. The singer’s team posted a message on Tuesday that reads, “We wanted to give you a personal update about his condition. His recent surgery lasted longer than expected since the damage ended up being a bit worse than initially assessed. He suffered a fracture that needed to be corrected in addition to the reconstructive surgery. He will be recovering during the next few weeks, but a full recovery is anticipated.”
There has been no indication yet that Iglesias will have to cancel his next concert, which is slated to take place on July 3 in Mexico City. Gossip Cop will update on Iglesias’ condition and wishes him a full recuperation.
