WATCH: Andrew Garfield & Emma Stone Try To Reason With Paparazzi

VIDEO

(YouTube)

Paparazzi recently pursued Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield as the couple tried to enjoy a New York stroll, and new video has surfaced that shows the exceedingly polite pair attempting to reason with the pesky photographers to leave them in peace.

First, an uncomfortable Stone is seen saying, “I’m just trying to walk around, it’s Sunday, I really don’t want to [take photos] today.”

Later, she and Garfield are about to hail a taxi when Garfield approaches the cameraman and asks if they can talk.

“We can all be human beings and talk,” says the Amazing Spider-Man star, explaining that he and Stone just want to be enjoy their day unbothered.

The paparazzo doesn’t seem to get it, saying, “If you just give us the two-shot, we can leave you alone.”

Garfield replies, “We’re not going to pimp out our personal life,” going on to ask the photog (“Justin”) to shut off his camera while they have a conversation.

Yes, Garfield and Stone are celebrities and in the public eye, and yes, there will always be paparazzi following them on the streets of New York and Los Angeles.

But it’s a shame that the photographers who prey on celebs refuse to reciprocate the respect and civility those hunted stars often offer them, as Stone and Garfield do here.

We need better paparazzi laws here! This is getting ridiculous! Good for Emma and Adrew not wanting to out their relationship on show.

“We’re not gonna pimp our personal lives for the sake of anyone else…”

    BWAHAHAHAHA!

    Really Andrew? REALLY?!

What do you call these then? All of these were shot right in your faces and you both were loving the attention.

Who are you trying to convince that you’re not pimping your personal lives when you’ve been indulging the paps for weeks and weeks now? PUHLEEZE! LOL!

  • pixie1824

Since when does being a celebrity mean you’re not entitled to privacy? I just don’t understand that logic.

  • Rogue

I don’t condone the paps, but everyone knows they exist especially the celebrities themselves who are constantly hounded by them. As such, celebrities who kiss in public all the time while demanding privacy at the same time come off as really insincere to me. These two have been photographed kissing in NYC so many times now and the pics look like they were taken just a few feet away from them. I mean, if you’re really private, then why are you kissing in public, in the middle of the streets of New York, no less? I’m sure that the first time these two kissed in public and it hit the internet, they knew that if they really didn’t want their intimacy publicized, they need to confine their kissing in the privacy of their home. But they kept doing it in public again and again, knowing fully well that they’re celebrities and that paps have been following them and have been taking their pictures in the past. That’s practically like luring the paps to hound them for more pictures. So when Andrew said, “we’re not gonna pimp our personal lives…”, I couldn’t supress an eyeroll. Sorry.

In my opinion, there is a big difference between a celebrity and an actor. I beleive these two are actors, they are not searching out celebrity. Most people here seem to think because you choose acting as your profession that you are never allowed to lead a normal life again, never allowed to kiss their boyfriend in public or be spontaneous and give a hug. And just because the pictures look close up, doesn’t make it so. Those cameras have huge lenses that can take pics from a great distance. I think that is garbage. If this was a person stalking some random woman she could ask the police for help, but because these two are actors they are at the mercy of these creepy stalking papparazi. The worst is when they follow people with their children. They should not be allowed to photograph the children at all.

  • JessMarie414

Couldn’t agree more. There are people who act because it’s their passion then there are the famewhores. The famewhores air their dirty laundry for the world to see so people get used to it and believe everyone else should do the same. People should understand that acting isn’t 24/7, they are allowed their privacy. The paparazzi needs better boundaries. And I agree wholeheartedly about the kids. That’s the worst part.

  • tom

Yes they are celebrities and actors. That does not mean that they asked for their lives to be totally public. They should be allowed to go about their business with out this kind of harassment. There should be laws against paparazzi. Andrew should know by now that there is no way to reason with them.

  • Satine

What law is there that when you are a celebrity, actor, or whatever that you have a right to their personal relationship. I can possibly see a politician because he relies on our tax money to pay for his or her salary, but this is ridiculous. An actor who was cordial enough to ask politely to even talk one on one, the photographer is scum, I don’t need to see celebrities 24/7. That is why they have chat shows or premieres. I feel badly for any celebritiy couple and especially those with children being hounded by scum.

  • Robsessed1986

Wow, my respect for Andrew Garfield just keeps growing. He seems to be a very nice, down to earth guy. He is very polite and well mannered. Reminds me of someone else……….

  • guest

There’s a difference between this situation and the other times they’ve been photographed out in public. When they were showing PDA before, they obviously just didn’t care at the time. They weren’t specifically posing to make the paps go away. Emma clearly wasn’t in a place to be photographed at the time, and if anything, you’d think the fact that they normally don’t seem to care as much if the paps are there would be more reason for them to be willing to respect their privacy when they ask for it. I get that it’s that’s what the paparazzi is getting paid for, but they don’t have to be so rude about it.

  • Mayhemgirl

They both seem like classy young people, and I don’t understand why they have to be followed all day for a couple of pictures. I saw a video of Rob Pattinson one day and they were following him and you could just see him getting more and more depressed and he finally approached the guy and said, “listen you have like a million pictures, can’t you just leave me alone?” and its true. Take a freaking picture if they are a celeb and then leave them alone. I don’t think these people mind a picture or two, they are pros and know how it goes, but a bunch of people following you ALL day and snapping pictures is a bit much. The paps definitely need a few laws to limit how far they can go, because they seem to not understand for themselves how far is too far.

they chose to be in the entertainment business so they need to get used to the Paparrazzi it’s part of being in the limelight. it’s different when a legend gets chased on personal business like going to vote in an election or something than a young couple that’s just dating

  • Lynn

Agreed…and that’s why British boys continue to steal our hearts :)

After viewing this, no papparazi should be surprised when they get punched out. Here we see Stone almost terrified and Garfield politely speaking to the cameraman, who could care less about anything but his paycheck. The photographer is a cold-blooded b—–d.

  • AMP2020

You must be completely retarded and have ZERO clue how photography works. Those are ALL shot on LONG lenses, dummy. They are private moments captured by a photog snooping.

  • Xenobyte

Yes, absolutely correct. They chose to be famous and they chose to collect huge paychecks, collect swag at red carpet events, VIP access at nightclubs and all the other perks of being famous, and the price to pay for all this is rather small: The paps get interested.

Now, the paps have been around for decades and the unwritten rules haven’t changed, and most paps obey them. It’s simple – if you get your shots, move on and leave the celeb alone. For the celeb it’s painfully simple: Give them their shots and they’ll give you peace.

But for some reason some celebs simply don’t get this. They run, they hide.. and the paps keep on coming. Then the celebs whine and complain and some even get violent. But they just don’t get it. The paps do it for a living. They NEED some usable pics they can sell – or they don’t eat. So they keep on coming.

Some celebs then write articles about the lack of privacy and how obnoxious the paps are. But they always forget that the reason the paps exist is the same as always. People want gossip and pics of their idols, the latter the paps provide. And back when the celeb were young they had without doubt idol pics plastered all over the walls and a chunk of the allowance went to the publishers of gossip rags. We also still see pap pics of celebs at newsstands buying… gossip rags. So they themselves help keep the paps in business.

Oh, and about Emma and Andrew here – whenever celebs date other celebs they double the paparazzi interest. If they are so privacy-fixated they should consider not dating people in the business, especially people they’re currently working with.

  • Taylor Lange

Okay. I’ve been keeping up with the filmings and outings of my favourite celebrities for years, and now I understand why people tell me not to focus so much on them. I focus more on my favourite actors than I do on my own life. No, I’d never follow them around all day for a picture and an autograph, but I would go out of my way to say Hello if I saw them on the street. If I want a picture and autograph, I’d go see them at one of those events like a comic con or something.
