Emma Bunton On Spice Girls Reunion Tour: “Nothing Happening At Moment”
Emma Bunton is downplaying rumors that Spice Girls are planning a reunion tour, but not completely denying them either.
Late Thursday, The Sun published a story claiming “Mel B, Mel C, Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton will reform for a massive international tour next year,” after making “the decision at a secret meeting in London last month.” The article notes that no promoters or managers have signed on yet, but the idea is to tie it to the group’s 20th anniversary. Victoria Beckham has supposedly opted not to participate.
But on her “Heart Breakfast” radio show Friday, Bunton distanced herself from the claims. “If anything happens and it’s concrete, and we decide on something, I will let you know, but nothing’s happening at the moment,” she said. Mel C also seemed taken aback by the report, tweeting, “Woke up this morning wondering whether I need to start practising my backflips???!!!”
Bunton replied, “Do I need to put my pigtails in?!?!?” The Sun reporter Dan Wootton, however, is standing by his story, and says to expect an “official announcement” at some point “later this year.” Coincidentally or not, Beckham tweeted a Spice Girls photo for “Throwback Thursday,” writing, “#TBT love my Spice Girls x vb.”
Gossip Cop has correctly debunked past rumors of an official reunion, and Beckham has said more than once that she’s done with the group. Mel B, however, said on “The Tonight Show” last week that she’s more than game, as Gossip Cop reported at the time. She told Jimmy Fallon, “I want us to get back together! I think we should. It’s been 20 years. It’s about time.”
Gossip Cop will have updates should anything come together. TELL US: Would you want to see the Spice Girls reunite, even if it’s without Beckham?
