CLAIM: Eminem Has Become “Born Again Christian”

Truth rating: 0

(MediaTakeOut)

“BREAKING NEWS: Rapper Eminem Has Become A BORN AGAIN CHRISTIAN!!” announces a headline from MediaTakeOut, which is still struggling to unlock its caps key.

Picking up on a report from the Christian Post, the blog says Eminem has “turned his life over to Christ,” and is “building a relationship with God and using that to help him spiritually, and with his addiction problems.”

The webloid then quotes a supposed “source” who allegedly “witnessed the Detroit rapper’s transformation firsthand.”

According to the purported “insider,” Eminem has removed himself “from the depths of the music industry,” and will “no longer be conforming to what the business expects of him.”

The report then cites the rapper’s 1996 track “It’s OK,” in which he sings, “But in the midst of this insanity, I’ve found my Christianity through God and there’s a wish he granted me.”

Um…

So we’re supposed to believe that Eminem is essentially giving up his music career for religion, based on vague statements from an anonymous “source,” coupled with the fact that he once — many years ago — mentioned Christianity in a song?

Ha.

Gossip Cop had serious doubts about this tale, so we checked in with a rep for Eminem, who tells us it’s absolutely “untrue” that the rapper has become a Born Again Christian.

he’s not giving up his music career. He refuses to be the image the “industry” expects him to put off. “The Industry phrase given reference to the Illuminati control.

What I really what to know is if Eminem is going to live up to the statement he made once on, I believe it was TRL, where he said if he was still on stage rapping at 40 he hoped to God someone would get up there and pull his butt off the stage. He is now 40.

  • Kks

I sure the hell hope not!

  • peppermintulip

I thought he was stupid to make that statement then. Now that he’s 40 I really think it. lol

  • jik

well you have madonna making a fool of herself on stage acting like she’s 23 when she’s 54.

  • juk

too bad thought I’d see him rapping for Jesus

I think him extremely tragique’ figure that ‘suffers for his art, and is quite profound. I am made to pause and be mesmerized by his performce. Is that just me? I think he will be the ‘sage ‘ dylanesque meets billy idol of his time. He will be know as a genius of philosophy.

(I saw it in my tea leaves, haha.)

What I’d like to know is after recovery being out two years.
And Em being sober all this time, why is it that people are
Just realizing now that Em is a born again Christian? Like
    DUH!

Thank you. People aren’t getting this. He doesn’t even HAVE to give up music to be a Christian. It’s about your relationship with god… “getting out of the depths of the industry” just say’s he’s a free man by breaking the oath with the devil… and he can through everything through Christ now… He may not be popular because of it any more but he is Eminem… people will always keep up with Eminem.

Whew! Thank god (figuratively speaking)! It would have been very disappointing to see him start following like a sheep.

I can’t stand the Gossip Cop’s bitchy tone in this article… why would becoming a Christian be something to vehemently deny? I find it extremely closed-minded and naive of the Reporter to deliver this news in this manner. Hypocritical to the tenth power. This article is delivered by the same people that would be the FIRST to jump all over someone for showing a lack of “diversity” and “acceptance”… I guess that applies to everyone but yourselves when it comes to Christians? Be consistent, or you won’t be taken seriously.

This rumor initially started on a hip hop blog when a source came to the columnist Illseed claiming this information. Even Illseed himself was doubtful any of it was true. Em has stated he believes in God in his own way, and he did probably develop somewhat of a more stronger thankfulness when he was getting clean from his addiction – but Born Again? No. Definitely not.

man you do this all day

Whew…dodged a musical bullet there. I don’t care who wants to believe in fairytales, but it would be especially weird coming from Eminem. Also, this reminds me of his denouncement of homophobia a couple years ago, saying that he’s matured and moved past that. I’m guessing that as a born-again Christian (usually the craziest ones) he’d have to hate homosexuals again, and I can’t see a muture adult turning back to bigotry based on the words of some ancient Jewish hippies…and..well, bigots.

And you don’t need to believe in a sky-dwelling genie to over come your problems. You can’t tell yourself that the sky man helped you. But really, the strenghth was in YOU the whole time, some people just need to believe in a sky fairy to create a sense of being supervised or some form of companionship.

Again, the point, you don’t need an imaginary friend to reform yourself.

    EDIT: You CAN tell yourself

Do you know anything about the bible Justin? or is this something you have heard because the way you. Talk about the bible tells me you know nothing about it. No offense bro. Its a well documented resource. Written by over 40 authors, in three different langueges, written by poets, prophets, a doctor(luke). Its was written in a time where people witnessed Jesus’ death and ressurection, where it could be disputed. I didn’t mention all the different types of authors but there are many. And the book beautifully points to jesus from start to finish. You should read it before you call it belief in the sky. Jesus’ purpose on earth was to make a way to know him and set us free from our sin nature. Also to rightfully claim what was his. Read his word bro. God bless you Justin
