Emily Blunt “The Girl On The Train” Interview On “Today” Show – Watch Video
Emily Blunt opened up about her “challenging” role in The Girl On The Train during Tuesday’s “Today” show. Watch below!
As Gossip Cop has reported, the film is based on the best-selling book of the same name. Blunt plays the disturbing lead figure, a depressed alcoholic who becomes obsessed with a couple she watches every day through a train window. That obsession only deepens when the woman disappears, and Blunt’s character isn’t entirely sure whether she had something to do with it.
Now speaking with Savannah Guthrie, the actress joked about being offered the twisted role, “Nothing says Emily Blunt like a raging alcoholic!” More seriously, though, Blunt noted, “To play an alcoholic is a challenging role, because you don’t want to trivialize anything about this disease, which is she really what she’s going through. And yet she is compulsive and voyeuristic and she has [a] unhealthy obsession with this seemingly-perfect couple.”
During filming of the thriller, Blunt was secretly pregnant with her second daughter. “Poor, sweet Violet rattling around in there as I played this alcoholic,” the mom of two cracked. Guthrie pointed out that husband John Krasinski is now “totally outnumbered at home,” prompting Blunt to quip, “Oh, he loves it that way! We have a boy dog!” Check out the video below.
