Elvie Shane ‘American Idol’ Audition Video: Former Drug Addict Has ‘Powerful’ Voice
Elvie Shane wowed on “American Idol” on Thursday with his “powerful” voice. Check out the video below!
Before his audition, the Kentucky resident confessed to being a former addict, and further admitted, “Got down in a deep hole and I did actually end up getting arrested for my drug use.” He revealed “things turned around” when he met his future wife, a single mom, and fell in love with both her and her son. Now he said, “I want to come out with a golden ticket and see a smile on their face. I’d love to have a good hug, too.”
Shane gave a strong performance of “House of the Rising Sun” that had Jennifer Lopez claiming as he started to sing, “Where’d that come from?!” Afterward she told the contestant, “I think you have a spectacular voice… It cuts through the whole entire room.”
Harry Connick, Jr. went on to tell the 27-year-old, “I really like that and here’s why: You have this quality about that seems to be music first, worry about the details later.” He pointed out that Shane’s guitar was out of tune, but that didn’t even matter. “I love examples when that really works,” said Connick. “It is what it is, and you have a real gift.”
And Keith Urban told Shane, “I love that you love to do this. It’s really contagious to watch.” Needless to say, there were some tears when his wife was invited into the room. Watch the full video below!
