Elton John’s Former Bodyguard Drops Sexual Harassment Lawsuit
Elton John’s former bodyguard Jeffrey Wenninger, who accused the singer of inappropriately touching him on several occasions, dropped his sexual harassment lawsuit on Thursday. It’s unclear why the ex-security guard chose to dismiss his own case, as there was no financial settlement made.
As Gossip Cop reported, Wenninger sued John in March for allegedly making unwanted physical and verbal advances toward him during three separate incidents in 2014. According to the suit, the musician had groped his then-employee below the waist and told him to “get your todger out,” which is British slang for penis. Wenninger also alleges the singer once twisted his nipples and said to him, “You gorgeous thing, you,” in addition to grabbing his buttocks on another occasion.
John vehemently denied all of his ex-bodyguard’s battery claims, and his lawyer, Orin Snyder, quickly released a statement calling the lawsuit “baseless.” The musician’s attorney maintained that the suit was brought on “by a disgruntled former security officer seeking to extract an undeserved payment.” And now Wenninger, who had been John’s security guard for 12 years prior to filing his lawsuit, has dropped the case without explanation. Gossip Cop has reached out to a rep for the singer for comment on the now-dismissed sexual harassment lawsuit.
