Apparently, Sunday’s Golden Globes weren’t all about hugs and kind words.

After Madonna beat Elton John in the Best Original Song category, John’s partner David Furnish absolutely RIPPED the Material Girl on Facebook.

“Madonna. Best song???? F–k off!!!” Furnish wrote, adding ”Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit.”

Furnish also said Madonna’s acceptance speech “was embarrassing in it’s [sic] narcissism,” and even added that “her critisism [sic] of [Lady] Gaga shows how desperate she really is.”

The smack talk actually began on the red carpet, where a confident John, nominated for “Hello Hello” from Gnomeo & Juliet, said Madonna didn’t have “a f–king chance” of beating him.

After Madonna did ultimately win the golden statue for “Masterpiece” from her film W.E., she said backstage that she hopes John still “speaks to me for the next couple of years.”

“He’s known to get mad at me,” she explained, adding that she thinks the music legend is “brilliant.”

“I adore him,” she said. “So he’ll win another award, and I don’t feel bad.”

A couple of years ago he called her a “Cow” for lipsynching at her concerts and charging $150/ticket.

I love him. He’s the only one who can get away with it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Nena-Leila/100003157593717 Nena Leila

Why? Because he’s a bitter old queen? He seems pressed. And That concert was live aside from the opening/intro where she was doing yoga poses and stood on her head! lol.

I can’t believe anyone would defend such low ways of name-calling for NO reason at all.

Meanwhile, classy Madonna remains polite and gentle about elton.

You know, I think he WANTS her to respond an evil way, that way she’ll seem like the bitter one. Unfortunately for him, she is smart and won’t fall for it

  • Visalianative

    Agreed!

  • http://twitter.com/KellyCEfron Nicole Miller

At least Elton is honest about his feelings at all times, I love it. Also Elton doesn’t like Madonna cuz she’s fake as hell. Why is no one questioning the fact that this woman is from Michigan, but speaks in a British accent (or whatever that accent was last night)?

  • Rcwallace_1

I agree with him. Her & Lady Gaga are both in the same category to me. Fake garbage.

  • geesh!

I don’t particularly care for either one. It seemed like the war of the over inflated egos to me.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_4O2M2FMUPR7RSYZR22L2RW4DK4 Andrew

It was David saying all this, not Elton. I am not a huge fan of either one of them, but the partner in this situation (David) needs to just keep his mouth shut.

  • Regina1180

Wow, can you say sore loser?

  • Ms. Chevious

You must be young. Those of us who remember when she started know that she’s famous for flashing her tits and who she slept with. She can’t sing for crap.

We grew up listening to ladies who could actually sing. Cher, Linda Ronstadt, Carly Simon.

Madonna is a slutty cow that is only good at self promotion.

I feel sorry for the generation that grew up believing that Modanna has talent.

You should have been listening to Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. Those girls could/can sing.

  • Visalianative

Oh Ms. Chevious how naive you are…there are singers and there are entertainers…we all know that…Madonna is an entertainer and a damn good one at that…Elton has done nothing in the last years except express shameful bitterness and rudeness…it’s very unappealing when someone thinks they deserve an award because they are a legend. And no I’m not young, I’m 36 and I grew up listening to both Madonna and Elton John…I’m sorry but I think he needs to take the stick outta his arse. (Oh and I did/still do listen to Whitney and Mariah and many many more really talented singers, they of course are in a seperate category).

  • Ms. Chevious

Now who sounds naive? Now matter how much you gen Xers (or whatever the heck you guys call yourselves) want to think differently Madonna is a piece of crap.

You only think shes an “entertainer” because you don’t know any better.

Elton John is a talented musian. Is he still relevant? Dont’ know, dont’ care.

I just love when someone has the guts to speak the truth about Madge. Even if its Elton’s husband.

36 is still not mature enough to know shit. Call me when you hit at least 40. By then you’ll have a clue.

  • Susan G

I just can’t resist. Can Elton John ever SHUT UP and have one shred of humility. Now his husband seems to have the same compulsion to blurt out self-important, judgemental spewing. Last I checked, there are MORE than enough awards to go around and honors to be bestowed – much of which he has recieved – and should at. Put take one away for each one of these vain “I’m better than [inset target of judgement] and THEY do/did THIS offesnsive thing.

Take your OWN inventory Elton. And check your ego at the door. It doesn’t suit you well.

  • joyce

Since I’m in my 50′s I have you all beat. I grew up on both Madonna and Elton and love them both. I do think Eltons husband calling Madonna narcissistic is like the pot calling the kettle black. Elton is equally narcissistic. They are both deva’s and are both talented in their own ways. I hate when another artist calls out another artist because their pissed they lost. Thats the whole Kanye West train of thought. Elton has a temper and him and his husband should just shut up and be happy that Elton is sure to win plenty of more awards in his lifetime.

  • Ms. Chevious

Those of us in our late fifties did not “grow up” on Madonna. Cher was our “Madonna”. Elton didn’t really get big until I was in college. So I have a totally different take on what music should sound like.

Nobody my age thinks Madonna is any good. We laughed like heck when she rolled around on stage “like a Virgin”. She is alnd always has been desperate.

I love that she dissed Gaga. It shows her true colors. At least Gaga can actually sing and write music. She’s better at being Madonna that Madonna.

Elton likes Gaga maybe that’s all rolling into this too.

  • joyce

If you read my post correctly you will see I said I grew up on Madonna and Elton. I didn’t say everyone in their 50′s grew up on them. Most of my friends were, like myself, fans of top 40 music. We loved both Madonna and Elton and still do. For you to say nobody your age thinks Madonna is any good is false. Maybe nobody you know does but most everyone I know loves her. Just for your personal information I am 57 and so are most of my friends so I think that qualifies for late 50′s too. Everyone likes different music. Just like there is a whole generation growing up on and loving Britney Spears.

  • Lindsey

Obviously he’s a bitter old loser, and is just pissy because Madonna called out Lady Gaga for copying her song.

I don’t like any of them, but Madonna did nothing wrong here.

  • Ms. Chevious

I read your post correctly. I am also 57. But by the time Madonna showed up I was already grown. How could you have been around when Cher was at her peak and think that Madge was worth listening to? I find that facinating.

But yes everyone likes different “music”. I definitely get that. I hear it all the time on the wonderful top 40 that vomits from the car radio everyday.

Any chance I have to slam Madge I’ll take because I personally feel that her style of “I can’t sing so look at my tits” music lead the way for the Britneys Spears & Ke$has of the world.

It’s no longer about who has a good voice but who puts on the most outrageous performance or looks the best nearly naked.

  • Laarni

I would safely surmise that the “husband” or the “wife”, man, it is so confusing, was just echoing the sentiments of Elton. I could just visualise him now: hand flailing and the other hand resting on his waist.

  • B4insf

Who cares? Elton is done. Madonna has one more chance… Let’s watch and see what she releases this year… BUT.. BRING ON RUMER!!!!!!!! Something fresh and real!

  • French Flies

Elton is a bitter queen, much like the ones who write gossip columns and coin terms like “relaysh” so they can feel “speshul”.

I enjoy both and would like to see dignity from them BOTH.

  • Danny

Masterpiece is a wonderful song and deserved the Golden Globe. Why can’t he just be happy that someone else won? That’s ridiculous.

  • Annie

That’s why she’s fake? Because she doesn’t speak like an idiot with a terrible accent and she pronounces her words.

“Fake” is the most overused insult I can think of. She’s seems like herself in many interviews. When she is in a bad mood and she doesn’t like the interviewers questions, she makes it clear. That seems like the opposite of fake.

She’s always had a posh way of speaking for a few decades now. I don’t really think that after speaking that way for 20 years that she making it up. It’s how she speaks. Deal.

  • Annie

She puts on a show. Clearly you’ve never seen her perform.

I think she will manage to survive without your money though. I think!

  • Annie

You need to take your ego down a peg. Someone likes another artist and you question it? She likes Madonna. Not as if she’s about to join a Nazi party.

You like Cher. She likes Madonna. Another person likes Usher or Chris Brown or Jay Z. We all have different tastes in music. Seriously. Why do people do this to each other? It’s just music.

  • Ee

you’re not 57 you are a teenage troll

  • Ms. Chevious

No its not music its crap. And in the meantime people who have real talent langish on the sidelines because the music industry has convinced numbskulls that this is what you should be buying.

This isn’t between liking Adele vs Kelly Clarkson.

This is about liking someone who really has no talent other than self promotion. And no I would never drop a dime in her purse. But geez she was all over the place years ago and I could see what she was doing for free.

I want people to consider the voice for singers not their boobs and “performance”.

And yes its does irritate the heck out of me that anyone over the age of 55 would like Madonna. She’s a boomer she should know better because unlike the unfortunate younger generation she was exposed to REAL talent most of the time. (yes we had the Archies but we also had the Temptations).

My egos is just fine and yes I do pee perfume.

  • Ms. Chevious

How funny I was just thinking that about Joyce. No one who is actually 57 would have said they “grew up” listening to Madonna. She didn’t hit the scene until 1981 or 82. I was already out of college and in my late 20s.

But that doesn’t mean I don’t like stirring the excrement. Hence the moniker.

But I do think that Madonna sucks and that theres’s no way the Rollling Stones are the Greatest Rock Band. That would be the original line up of The Who.

  • Ahjui1

madonna is smirking and feeling sad for the 2 ignoramus.

I think it’s pathetic that a huge star like Elton can stoop to this selfish childish attitute, and his husband should be gagged before all future public appearances. Eltonn and Madonna both have a had a long and successful career and there is no place for bitterness when you are in the public eye like they are!
