WATCH: Elliot Rodger Vows to Kill Everyone In Video Before Santa Barbara Massacre
Elliot Rodger, a disturbed 22-year-old student who posted a “retribution” video hours before a horrific massacre near UC Santa Barbara in Isla Vista left seven people dead on Friday, is being investigated in “connection” with the mass murder.
While he has NOT been officially identified as the suspect, an attorney for Peter Rodger, the second unit director of The Hunger Games and Elliot’s father, said on Saturday that the family believes he was involved.
A lone gunman in a slow-moving vehicle opened fire during a rampage that killed six individuals; after a confrontation with police, the suspect crashed his car and was found dead of a gunshot wound to his head.
It was not clear whether he’d committed suicide or been killed by law enforcement.
Following the massacre, Sheriff Bill Brown indicated that Rodger had left behind material including YouTube videos and writings that were being investigated in connection to the shooting.
In a terrifying video called “Elliot Rodger’s Retribution,” posted on Friday, the man is seen behind the wheel of a car complaining about his loneliness and rejection by women, and saying “it all has to come to this.”
“I will have my revenge against my humanity,” declares Rodger, promising, “I’ll take great pleasure in slaughtering all of you.”
