Ellen DeGeneres is NOT being “pressured” to quit her talk show, despite a new report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the story.

According to RadarOnline, DeGeneres’ wife Portia de Rossi is “pressuring her to consider retirement in the hopes of putting their marriage back on track.” The webloid quotes a so-called “insider” as saying, “Ellen’s contract is up in 2017 and she has told her staff that she does not know if she is going to renew it. Everyone on the staff is just freaking out over this.”

The site’s alleged “insider” goes on to claim De Rossi “asked Ellen to not renew her contract so that she can be a better wife to her. She told her that she needs to focus on her family.” A supposed show “staffer” further alleges to the outlet, “When Portia comes into the studio lately, she is not as nice to everyone as she used to be. She seems to really resent the show and everyone who works there.”

“Ellen does not need to do the show anymore because she has more money than God,” the RadarOnline “source” dramatically adds. “And Portia told her that she has already interviewed everyone there is to interview and the act just seems to be getting old.”

Here’s what’s likely going on: Earlier this month, RadarOnline’s sister publication, Star, wrongly claimed de Rossi was negotiating a supposed “postnuptial agreement” with DeGeneres that would require them to spend more time together. Then this week, OK!, another RadarOnline sister outlet, falsely alleged DeGeneres was planning to move to Australia with de Rossi when her contract ends in 2017. RadarOnline appears to have taken those two untrue reports and built a new equally untrue story.

In any case, while it’s certainly possible DeGeneres will opt for a contract change in two years, the notion that she is being “pressured” to do so now and has her staff panicked is completely wrong. A rock-solid source close to the production, who has consistently proved reliable when it comes to DeGeneres, assures Gossip Cop that all this speculation is false.
