Ellen DeGeneres NOT In “$220 Million Divorce” With Portia de Rossi, Despite Report (EXCLUSIVE)
The new issue of the National Enquirer, which hit newsstands on Wednesday, announces, “Portia Leaves Ellen… For A Man!” The accompanying story claims de Rossi “has a roving eye — for a MAN — and she’s walked out” on DeGeneres. It’s further declared to be “the bitter finale of their 7-year marriage and the start of a $220 million divorce.”
The supermarket tabloid alleges the catalyst is Matthew Del Negro, who appeared on nine episodes of “Scandal” during season four in 2014 and 2015. The National Enquirer tries to make it seem like he’s a current co-star, alleging Rossi has become “smitten” with him. A so-called “source” is quoted as saying, “This is the end. Ellen and Portia have been squabbling and drifting apart for some time. But for Portia to leave Ellen for a man is the culmination of Ellen’s worst fears.”
Of course the magazine goes on to bring up how Anne Heche moved on with James Tupper after her relationship with DeGeneres ended. There’s further speculation about the talk show host and de Rossi both flirting with others and having the “seven-year itch.” But the gossip rag has been running “divorce” stories about the couple for years.
To just name a few, Gossip Cop has corrected such reports from the National Enquirer in September of 2013, March 2014, and April 2015, the last of which also used the “$220 million” figure. Sister publication Star even blared that number on a “divorce” cover in February 2014. But Gossip Cop noticed another attempt at tabloid trickery.
That old Star cover features a small photo of de Rossi with the line, “Portia’s Ring Is Off.” Know what’s on the cover of this new National Enquirer two years later? Yep, the same exact picture, with the similar declaration, “The Ring Is Off” (see below).
Clearly, the only thing really “off” here is the facts, and they have been for years. Gossip Cop checked in once more with our rock-solid DeGeneres source, who exclusively tells us the new cover story is more tabloid trash. In fact, our contact even says, “The Enquirer has officially stopped even trying to make their lies believable.” Indeed, and Gossip Cop is happy to expose them.
