Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi Slam “Ignorant” Dolce & Gabbana (VIDEO)
Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have become the latest celebrities to speak out against Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana after the famed fashion designers’ controversial comments about same-sex parenting, in which the Dolce & Gabbana founders called babies born via in-vitro fertilization “synthetic children.” Watch the video below.
The talk show host and the actress attended Saturday’s GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles, where they were asked by E! on the red carpet to respond to the controversy. “There are no thoughts. It’s not even worth commenting on, because they’re ignorant,” said DeGeneres. “I mean, what’s there to say other than, what?”
De Rossi added, “The only thing you can say is that we’re all entitled to free speech. However, I just don’t understand who they are. I don’t understand why they would want to say that.” DeGeneres then said, “It’s not even limited to gay and lesbian couples. It’s anyone who’s trying to have a child that’s not able to conceive. It’s just stupid… I’ll never wear the clothes, ever, ever again.”
When Dolce and Gabbana’s comments were originally made, Elton John called for a boycott of the luxury brand. It sounds as though DeGeneres and de Rossi are on board. Watch the video below, and tell us what you think.
