Happy Birthday Ellen DeGeneres! Gossip Cop Blows Out Five Wrong Rumors About Talk Show Host
Ellen DeGeneres turns 58 on Tuesday, and to celebrate her birthday, Gossip Cop looks back at five really wrong rumors about the talk show host that we exclusively “blew out” in the past year.
In November, Gossip Cop exclusively busted a Life & Style story claiming she and Portia de Rossi’s marriage was “at risk” because they were fighting over a baby. The false report relied on a so-called “source,” who claimed “a baby is the only thing Portia wants right now,” but DeGeneres “realized she doesn’t want to be a mom.” A source close to the couple confirmed to Gossip Cop de Rossi and DeGeneres are “100 percent on the same page” about not wanting children.
Gossip Cop also exclusively debunked a Star cover story from September that alleged DeGeneres was “at war” with Caitlyn Jenner after the former Olympian said on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” that she used to be against gay marriage, but has come around on the issue. The tabloid claimed the two women had a “heated fight backstage” after the interview, resulting in “Caitlyn getting kicked out” of the studio by DeGeneres. A trusted source on the show, however, told Gossip Cop “every single one” of the magazine’s allegations were “really untrue.”
In April, Gossip Cop exclusively corrected an inaccurate In Touch report that claimed DeGeneres is an “absolute nightmare at work,” who is prone to “screaming matches” and “crazy demands.” The tabloid, which compared the talk show host to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, alleged, “The second the audience leaves, Ellen transforms,” with one of its unreliable sources saying she has “a temper like you wouldn’t believe.” Actually, the only thing not to believe was the magazine. A show insider told Gossip Cop that everyone at the show has “fun all day every day with each other.”
Gossip Cop also exclusively shot down a National Enquirer story in June that morbidy claimed DeGeneres was “convinced she’ll die from a major heart attack.” The fabricated report alleged DeGeneres’ “secret medical drama” was adding “more stress” to her supposedly “troubled marriage” to de Rossi. A source close to DeGeneres, however, assured Gossip Cop that the Enquirer story was “not true” at all.
And finally, Gossip Cop exclusively busted RadarOnline tale in May that claimed DeGeneres was being “pressured” by de Rossi to quit her talk show after her contract runs out in 2017. The webloid reported de Rossi wanted DeGeneres to focus on putting their marriage “back on track” and “be a better wife to her.” The entire story, however, was inaccurate. A source close to production exclusively told Gossip Cop the allegations were completely false. And since our story ran, DeGeneres has renewed her contract, with de Rossi’s blessing.
Gossip Cop wishes DeGeneres a happy and rumor-free birthday.
