Elisabeth Hasselbeck: Chris Brown Twitter Attack Was “Verbal Rape”

Chris Brown’s vulgar Twitter fight with comedienne Jenny Johnson was a heated topic of discussion on Monday’s “The View,” with co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck likening the singer’s insults to “verbal rape.”

Hasselbeck said she thought Brown’s graphic comments — which included calling Johnson a “hoe” and suggesting she perform a sex act — were “disgusting,” adding, “It seems like verbal rape to me.”

She stated, “What he wrote should never ever have to go across any sort of Twitter feed… It was vile.”

Whoopi Goldberg, however, disagreed with Hasselbeck’s take on the situation.

She said, “I disagree with ‘verbal rape.’ I don’t think that’s verbal rape.”

Goldberg offered, “Both were verbally assaulting each other.”

    I don’t think it was “verbal rape”. Vile? Vulgar? Definitely! I’ve said in another post — I’m no fan of Chris Brown and I’d never heard of Jenny Johnson before this but Ms. Johnson definitely instigated it. He just tweeted about feeling old at 23 and she put a very attacking tweet response. I understand his anger and the need to defend himself. IDK — just think he could have controlled himself better and proved to her that he was the better person. Still, Ms. Johnson should never have instigated anything.

    While i thought what Chris had to say should have been thought out before he spoke, it was not and never will be rape, Hasselbeck should not be crying wolf, actually just don’t say anything at all, Ms Johnson was wrong, and an attempt to add this on to an old charge is slimey at best, i beleive Ms Johnson got exactly what she came for, and an audieance in which to do it! Chris Brown was minding his business, and out of the blue she came up with this name calling, his anger is not an abusive thing, its because his rights to be rehabilitated are being violated, he isn’t running around town beating on every girlfriend he has or had, in fact that was the only incident.     Whoopi always seems to defend Chris Brown for his terrible behavior. She was right there defending him when he had just beaten his girlfriend up and she still seems to be doing the same thing. She needs to face the fact that Chris Brown is not an angel. How would she like him if it were her daughter that was on the end of his constant abuse. Would she still be there defending him or would she agree that he is vile. I am far from am Elizabeth fan, but on this one I agree with her. Verbal abuse is just as bad and physical abuse, words have the ability to completely destroy a person’s self worth and confidence.The fact that Chris Brown is still verbally abusing people just goes to show that he hasn’t changed.     None of this twitter issue would’ve occurred if Jenny hadn’t been looking for a fight. She knew full well what the reaction would be and was salivating for it. Chris should’ve ignored it but I have a feeling Jenny would’ve continued. Jenny wasn’t an innocent party in this either. If Jenny can use twitter to attack someone, that person has the right to defend themselves or retort back using twitter as well (though I don’t condone taking to the level they were going).
