Dylan McDermott’s Mother’s Death Ruled Murder

Truth rating: 10

Dylan McDermott’s mother’s 1967 death has been ruled a murder.

A police investigation reopened more than 40 years after Diane McDermott died from a gunshot (originally ruled an accident) has concluded that she was, in fact, killed by her boyfriend, the gangster John Sponza.

The younger McDermott was five years old at the time.

Cops in Waterbury, Connecticut now say they have sufficient evidence against Sponza for the death.

Sponza himself was killed in 1972.

McDermott, known for roles on “The Practice” and “American Horror Story,” took to Twitter Monday to thank his fans “for their amazing support today.”

“It means so much to me,” he continued. “It’s been a long, hard journey that ended in victory.”

How incredibly sad for a little boy and for the grown Mr. McDermott. At least now he knows the truth and knows his Mother didn’t kill herself. RIP, Diane McDermott. I hope this helps Mr. McDermott with any issues still remaining from this tragedy. God Bless.

I don’t mean to be insensitive, but aren’t there current murders that need to be solved? Ones where the murderer is still walking free and a danger to society.

While I’m sure McDermott appreciates the fact that his mother’s death is now officially murder and not an accident, how much help can it be that the person who took his mother away from him never had to pay for the crime.

So happy for Dylan. He finally has the truth. His mother’s killer is dead, so there will be no other outcome, but the truth of the matter is a comfort and some closure for him. This would make a helluva movie with the names changed of course.
