Dwyane Wade Defends Lamar Odom: “You Will Never Know What It’s Like”
As Gossip Cop reported, Odom was found unresponsive at a Nevada brothel on Tuesday, with Love Ranch owner Dennis Hof claiming the athlete was taking an herbal substitute for Viagra. There has been unconfirmed speculation about possible drug use also contributing to Odom’s medical emergency, but nothing about his condition or the cause has been officially confirmed. Still, that hasn’t stopped many on social media from making cruel remarks about Odom’s troubles over the last few years.
Wade, however, believes the mean comments should stop. “I couldn’t sleep last night. sitting and thinking about LO as the person I know him as and thinking about what he has gone thru in his life,” the Miami Heat player tweeted on Wednesday morning, seemingly referring to Odom losing his mom when he was 12 and later his 6-month-old son, among other issues.
Wade continued, “Everyone will ask why or say how could he do this or that. if you’re not walking in life thru his eyes you will never know what it’s like. I pray this morning for my brother. Dear God he’s one of the good ones. PLEASE watch over him and listen to his heart speak #PrayersForLamar.”
Odom and Wade were teammates during the one season the former spent with the Miami Heat. As Gossip Cop previously noted, Wade was one of the first to send support after news of Odom’s health crisis first broke on Tuesday night. “PRAYERS all the way UP for my brother Lamar Odom!!!” he tweeted, further writing, “I can’t help but to be up right now… THINKING about my ex teammate/ friend LO.. On my knees praying…please God let him pull thru.”
Odom has also received well-wishes on Twitter from other fellow basketball players, and former teammate Kobe Bryant has been spotted visiting his hospital along with Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak. They were both already in Vegas for a Lakers pre-season game. Odom is pictured above facing off with Wade when he was on the Dallas Mavericks in 2012. Gossip Cop will continue to have updates.
