Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union Gush About Proposal, Celebrate Engagement
Dwyane Wade enlisted some very special helpers to assist with his engagement to Gabrielle Union — his sons and his nephew. As Gossip Cop previously reported, the Miami Heat star popped the question on Saturday after four years of dating.
“I planned it,” Wade told the Associated Press, revealing son Zion held a sign with Union’s name, while nephew Dahveon held up “Will you” and son Zaire carried “marry us?” The athlete explained, “We asked her to marry all of us, not just me. We’re a package deal, so it was cool.” Wade said he spent three months consulting with jeweler Jason of Beverly Hills over the 8.5 carat engagement ring, noting, “I kind of know my lady.”
“I know she’s simple, but at the same time, I just wanted the rock to kind of speak for itself and not do too much with the diamonds,” he said. “I think it’s a simple ring, but it’s nice. It was nicely done… it’s timeless.” Union herself seems more than delighted. “Maaaaaannn… I’m floatin! Thank you SO much for all the love, well wishes & support!” she tweeted on Sunday. She went on to joke about the color of her hands and her poorly-polished nails in the photos, noting, “I was truly caught off guard but happy nonetheless :).” “It aint real until u go to Red Lobster to celebrate!” Union added later. Wade said the wedding is likely to take place next September.
