Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron Worried ‘Baywatch’ Movie Too Raunchy?
Are Baywatch stars Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron worried the upcoming R-rated reboot is too raunchy? That’s the claim in one of this week’s new tabloids, but Gossip Cop has the exclusive truth!
Unlike the original TV series, the big-screen Baywatch remake will be full of crude humor and nudity, but Star is now claiming the film’s leads regret having worked so blue. A supposed “source” tells the magazine that Efron “saw how raunchy the final version was and went into a tailspin” because the movie “could easily get banned in huge [international] markets” and hurt its box office.
The outlet’s questionable insider further purports that Johnson, who’s one of the film’s producers, is also concerned about its adult content because he “just inked a movie deal with Disney.” The alleged source goes on to say the actor is now “frantically trying to scale it back in the editing room” to remove some of the off-color material.
What the outlet fails to mention, however, is that Johnson has been championing the reboot’s hard R-rating ever since the movie was first announced. The actor has repeatedly promoted the film’s bawdiness on Twitter, including the promise it has “enough rated R raunch comedy that’ll make one of my boyhood heroes, Richard Pryor very proud.” In a recent interview, he also added, “We worked hard to make sure the flesh quota was high, there’s more gratuitous boobs, bums, abs, whatever per minute than you can imagine.”
Regardless, Gossip Cop still checked in with reliable sources close to both Johnson and Efron, and we’re told the Baywatch stars were eager to make an R-rated comedy and are very happy with the final product. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first bogus story surrounding the film Gossip Cop has had to correct. We previously busted Star’s sister publication, OK!, for falsely claiming Efron’s friends were annoyed by his obsession with working out for his Baywatch role. That report was entirely inaccurate, and so is this latest one.
