Dwayne Johnson Talks “The Fate Of The Furious” On “Today” Show – WATCH
Dwayne Johnson appeared on Friday’s “Today” show, where he spoke about his new film, The Fate of the Furious. Check out the video below!
The actor spoke to Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie on the morning show about his new movie, the eighth in its franchise. When asked if he has ever accidentally physically hurt a fellow actor during physical scenes, Johnson joked, “Just emotionally, Matt.” He continued, “No, I’m generally pretty good. The world of wrestling, as crazy as that world is, as frenetic as it can be, it’s really a dance and you really learn how to take care of your partner. So when I transitioned into movies, and doing action stuff like that when I was putting Scott up sideways, I took care of him.”
Guthrie then asked Johnson if any of the extreme, fantasy elements of the franchise ever go over the line. “We hover above reality in the world of Fast and Furious,” the actor noted. “There’s a smart way to do it, by the end of the movie, where you’ve earned it with your fans. With a character like Hobbs, I really try to do my best to blink at the audience around every corner to let them know I’m in on it with them.”
Johnson went on to talk about his first ever car. “When I was 15-years-old, I lived in Nashville, Tennessee. I was in a bar, I was not drinking, but I was still in a bar. A crackhead walked in and he said, ‘Who wants to buy a car?'” he said. “I looked out and it was one of those big bodied Thunderbirds, I gave him 40 bucks, and me and my buddy got in, drove down the road, and never went back. ” “Some guys just go to a dealership,” Lauer joked.
