Dwayne Johnson opened his “SNL” monologue by saying he was joining the “Five-Timers Club.” He then said there’s been talk about him running for president and announced that he will seek the highest office in the land in 2020 with running mate Tom Hanks, who came out on stage. Johnson and Hanks then noted why they could run the country, based on roles they’ve played in movies. See the video below of Johnson’s “Saturday Night Live” monologue.

As noted, this is the fifth time Johnson has hosted “SNL.” He made his debut on the sketch comedy program in 2000. At the time, he went by his wrestling name, The Rock, and the musical guest was AC/DC. The actor returned in 2002 and again in 2009. During the latter appearance, Johnson introduced his character “The Rock Obama,” a version for former President Obama, who was generally calm and collected but turned into a Hulk-like individual when angered.

The movie star came back once more in 2015. When he fronted the show that time, Johnson sang during his monologue about how he’s “Franchise Viagra” and can improve any film sequel, including the Fast & Furious, G.I. Joe, and The Mummy movies. During that episode, he did another “The Rock Obama” sketch, with his character getting so mad that the pumped-up president ripped the arms off a senator and threw a congressman out the window of the Oval Office.

Johnson’s appearance on “SNL” comes in advance of the release next week of his new movie Baywatch, a comedic reboot of the TV series of the same name. And, of course, his movie Fate Of The Furious is still in the theaters. Check out the video below of Dwayne Johnson talking about running for president with Tom Hanks during his “SNL” monologue.
