The former WWE wrestler, known as “The Rock”, recently teased his political desires and called the idea of running for president “alluring.” Now, when “GMA” anchor Michael Strahan followed up with Johnson about the topic on the morning show, the actor said, “The idea of me being president one day has become a legit thing to some people.”
Johnson went on to note, “As time goes on, we take the temperature of the American people, and if it is a positive, overwhelming, strong: ‘We want you to run for president,’ and if I felt that I could step up to the plate and become a tremendous leader and make a real difference and make change, I would do it.”
The actor also discussed his HBO series “Ballers,” in which he plays a former football star working as a financial manager for the NFL. “I’ve never played a character who is so close to my heart,” admitted Johnson, who began his career playing college football. “I’ve lived that life. I know what it’s like, and I also know what it’s like to transition out of football at a time — much like my character in ‘Ballers’ — when I wasn’t ready to give up football.”
Later in the interview, Johnson talked about his family life, and even cooked his “world famous Rock pancakes.” Watch the actor’s full “GMA” segment below!
