Drew Barrymore And Will Kopelman Break Silence On Divorce – See Statement
Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman are breaking their silence on their divorce, just one day after their split was confirmed.
In a statement released to People on Saturday, the former couple says, “Sadly our family is separating legally, although we do not feel this takes away from us being a family. Divorce might make one feel like a failure, but eventually you start to find grace in the idea that life goes on. Our children are our universe, and we look forward to living the rest of our lives with them as the first priority.”
Barrymore and Kopelman wed in 2012. They are parents to two daughters: 3-year-old Olive and 1-year-old Frankie. Neither has filed for divorce yet, and are currently figuring out what their custody arrangement will be.
The estranged spouses were first rumored to be splitting in January. At the time, Gossip Cop was told such speculation was “totally false.” It seems, though, that Barrymore and Kopelman were still trying to keep their marriage in-tact at the point, but have sadly since come to the conclusion that it is best to breakup.
Barrymore, who gushed about Kopelman in a People cover story last fall but also said they focused more on parenthood than “coupledom,” showed off a new tattoo just hours before her breakup was revealed. The new ink is a tribute to her children, simply stating, “Olive and Frankie.” The mom two of two called it a “great little lifetime note.” This will be Barrymore’s third divorce.
