Drake Sued By Dead Man for Stealing
Drake stole a dead man’s music for the song “Pound Cake/Paris Morton Music 2,” according to a new lawsuit. The estate of Jimmy Smith points to a clip of the jazz musician’s 1982 song “Jimmy Smith Rap” at the opening of the rapper’s track.
Although Drake said in the liner notes of his Nothing Was The Same album that the 35-second monologue was properly licensed, Smith’s camp says they were never contacted for permission. The estate is now seeking more than $300,000 in damages from Drake, Cash Money Records, and other defendants, according to TMZ. Gossip Cop will update.
