Drake ‘SNL’ Monologue Focuses On Memes – WATCH VIDEO
Drake opened his “SNL” monologue by singing about how he’s constantly turned into memes. As he sang about how he’s often turned into memes, Drake could be seen in still photos in different scenarios. After singing about the different memes, he said Rihanna was in the house, and then put on a wig and sang like her. See the video below of Drake’s “Saturday Night Live” monologue.
This marks Drake’s third time on “Saturday Night Live.” His first appearance came in 2011, as the musical guest when Anna Faris host the sketch comedy show. He returned in 2014 to do double duty as the host and musical guest. And this time around, Drake is also performing and hosting “SNL.”
When Drake made his “SNL” debut in 2011, he performed “Make Me Proud” with Nicki Minaj, as well as appeared in a sketch during that episode’s “Week Update.” For his monologue in 2014, Drake opened by talking about being black and Jewish, which led to a flashback of his bar mitzvah, which featured stereotypes of both groups. He even did a rap about celebrating Hanukkah and dating Rihanna-ka. During that “Saturday Night Live,” he also performed “Hold On, We’re Going Home” and “Started From The Bottom,” and impersonated Alex Rodriguez in a skit.
Drake, of course, is on this week’s “SNL” in support of his hugely successful new album Views. After “Saturday Night Live,” he’ll kick off his North American Summer Sixteen Tour, which begins in Austin, Texas on July 20, and will hit every major city, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Phoenix, Detroit, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Miami, New Orleans, Nashville, and Las Vegas. The 40-date tour will end on September 17 in Drake’s hometown of Vancouver.
