Drake Bell Apologizes For “Insensitive” Caitlyn Jenner Tweet
Drake Bell apologized on Thursday for being “thoughtless” and “insensitive” in a tweet about Caitlyn Jenner. As Gossip Cop reported, the actor made a transphobic remark about Caitlyn after her Vanity Fair debut on Monday, tweeting, “Sorry… still calling you Bruce.”
After a slew of fans attacked Bell for the comment, he deleted the tweet and posted, “Calm down children. I’m not dissing him! I just don’t want to forget his legacy! He is the greatest athlete of all time! Chill out!” Now, it seems Bell has had a change of heart because he’s issued a proper apology on Twitter, writing that he didn’t mean to offend anyone. “I sincerely apologize for my thoughtless insensitive remarks. I in no way meant to hurt or demean those going through a similar journey,” tweeted Bell, adding in a separate post, “Although my comments were made in innocence, I deeply regret the negative effect they’ve had on so many.”
As Gossip Cop noted, Timbaland similarly expressed on Facebook that he was going to continuing calling Caitlyn by her birth name, Bruce, because that’s what “his momma named him.” While Timbaland didn’t apologize for his transphobic remark, he did delete it and clarified on Twitter, “I already stated I have nothing against him or anybody who have made that decision.” What do you think about Drake Bell’s apology to Caitlyn Jenner?
