Donald Trump: Ex-Wife Marla Maples Will Do ‘Very Well’ On ‘Dancing With The Stars’
Donald Trump is in full support of ex-wife Marla Maples’ new “Dancing with the Stars” gig.
As Gossip Cop reported, Maples was announced on Tuesday as one of the contestants for the upcoming 22nd season. Her participation coincides with Trump’s run for president, which is heating up right now with primary elections and caucuses across the country. While one might think Trump would want the family spotlight all to himself, that’s apparently not the case.
“I think it is wonderful. I am very happy for her and think she will do very well,” the GOP frontrunner tells People in a statement. No word yet if Trump plans to drop by the ballroom, but it seems unlikely. Viewers will probably be able to spot their 22-year-old daughter, Tiffany, cheering on Maples during the ABC competition.
Trump and Maples wed in 1993, two months after Tiffany was born. They separated in 1997, and their divorce was finalized in 1999. The actress was the business mogul’s second wife, after Ivana but before Melania, who would become First Lady if Trump is elected president.
During the “Dancing with the Stars” cast announcement earlier this week, Maples was asked if joining the show is a “nice distraction.” She didn’t take the bait, though, instead calling the experience “amazing” because the program was her late mother’s “favorite.” As Gossip Cop previously noted, Maples is partnered with Tony Dovolani, who is a longtime friend. “Dancing with the Stars” premieres on March 21, and Gossip Cop will have full coverage.
