Donald Trump Did NOT Diss Kanye West, Despite Report
“Epic Diss! Kanye West NOT ASKED To Perform At Pal Donald Trump’s Inauguration,” blares a new RadarOnline headline. The subhead then asks, “Is the Prez-elect afraid his rapper friend will fly off the handle?” The article is in reference to a recent CNN interview with Tom Barrack, the chair of Trump’s Presidential Inaugural Committee, who indicated that the rapper was not asked to perform.
“He considers himself a friend of the President-elect, but it’s not the venue,” Barrack explained, adding, “Kanye is a great guy but we just haven’t asked him to perform.” Of course, West met with the president-elect last month at Trump Tower to talk about a variety of social issues, but the prospect of him taking the stage during the inauguration never came up during the discussion.
But despite the webloid making it seem as if West was somehow snubbed, he was never planning to perform in the first place, and this is simply a non-story designed to create nonexistent drama. In fact, this isn’t RadarOnline’s first false story surrounding the president-elect’s upcoming event. We previously busted the outlet for wrongly reporting that Flo Rida was performing at Trump’s inauguration. That claim was bogus, and the same goes for this latest one.
