Donald Trump: Caitlyn Jenner Can Use Whichever Bathroom She Wants (VIDEO)
Trump appeared on Thursday’s “Today” for a live sit-down interview with Matt Lauer. During one of the segments, co-anchor Willie Geist read aloud a question from a viewer, who wanted to know how the GOP frontrunner felt about the controversial North Carolina bill requiring people to only use the public bathroom that matches their biological sex, regardless of their gender identity. “I had a feeling that question was going to come up,” Trump responded.
“North Carolina did something that was very strong, and they’re paying a big price and there’s a lot of problems,” Trump said, referring to various state boycotts in response to the new law. He went on to point out that there had been “very few complaints” about which restrooms transgender people use, leading him to argue, “You leave it the way it is. People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate. There has been so little trouble.”
Lauer followed up by specifically asking, “So if Caitlyn Jenner were to walk into Trump Tower and want to use the bathroom, you’d be fine with her using any bathroom she chooses?” Trump answered, “That is correct.” Jenner, who just was named to the Time 100 list of the “most influential people” in the world, has not yet acknowledged the exchange.
Trump’s support, however, comes more than a month after Jenner said she would want to be opponent Ted Cruz’s “trans ambassador” should he be elected. She later clarified that she wasn’t endorsing Cruz, and disagreed with his harsh stance on transgender issues. Maybe there’s a place for her in the Trump administration instead? Watch below.
