Django Unchained Premiere Canceled Due to Connecticut Shooting

The L.A. premiere for Django Unchained, directed by Quentin Tarantino and starring Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio and others, has been canceled because of the shooting massacre in Connecticut, the Weinstein Company announced on Monday.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the tragedy in Newtown, CT,” said the Weinstein Company, adding that “in this time of national mourning we have decided to forgo” the premiere that was slated for Tuesday.

The film company noted it would instead hold ”a private screening for the cast and crew and their friends and families.”

Last week, the premiere for the Tom Cruise film, Jack Reacher, had been postponed because of the tragedy.

    are you nitwits forgetting the owner of the Weinstein company lives in the same county in which the tragedy took place which is Fairfield county. correct Harvey Weinstein lives in Westport which is about 15 minute drive from Newtown at the south western tip of the county

    It was nice for them to “postpone” it…. I believe that if they REALLY wanted to ACT on what they advocate they would kill this emotionally gun charged film…………………. Instead this “postponement” is due to not getting any press which hurts their ticket sales….. …….. ……. ……

    I’m assuming, since no one in the media is talking about it, that we’re dismissing the notion of H’wood contributing to this tragedy with movies that glorify gun violence and the wholesale slaughter of large sections of humanity. No … it’s all the guns, that’s the issue. Can’t be these movies and video games … no, not at all.
