“Rosie O’Donnell to Take Over Oprah’s Time Slot,” declares a headline on the site Hollyscoop.
Really?
How did Hollyscoop come to this conclusion?
The site quoted O’Donnell as telling Barbara Walters and gossip queen Cindy Adams at a New York restaurant that she would be getting “Oprah’s time slot.”
But what Hollyscoop didn’t realize – but would have, if the site fact-checked – is that O’Donnell was joking.
In fact, this morning O’Donnell said on her Sirius Satellite show, “I [know] that ‘The View’ wants to be on in the Oprah spot,” so after Walters asked her when O’Donnell’s new show would be on, “just for s***s and giggles I said, ‘Oh yeah, the Oprah spot.’… to which Barbara’s face goes slack-ish.”
Besides O’Donnell’s comment being mostly in jest, a source familiar with the inner workings of her new deal told Gossip Cop that, realistically, those time “slots won’t be there” in many markets because the ABC stations will “probably put news [broadcasts] in” at that time.
