Derek Jeter received amusing fatherhood advice from Jimmy Fallon on Friday’s “Tonight Show.” Watch the video below.

As Gossip Cop reported, in February Hannah Davis revealed she was pregnant with their first child. She now accompanied her husband to the taping, where Jeter candidly discussed the pregnancy. “I hate to say it, ’cause my wife’s in the back, [but] when she was in New York for a launch week, it was right after she announced she was pregnant and she was doing an interview and they asked her, ‘You have any weird cravings?'” he recalled.

Jeter continued, “And my wife mentions beef jerky. Now, she doesn’t eat red meat but she mentions beef jerky. Now we have a lifetime supply of beef jerky at the house. So if anyone’s listening, she really craves ice cream, strollers…” Fallon commented that Davis is “glowing” and looking beautiful, prompting the superstar athlete to remark, “You need to tell her that, because every time I say it, she says I’m lying.”

He went on to crack, “There’s a lot of emotions you deal with when someone’s pregnant. I’m learning that. She didn’t tell me that part.” That led Jeter to tell the audience, “Jimmy’s got two daughters, so I’m trying to get some advice from him.” Responded Fallon, “I have some good advice. Are you guys talking about what the baby’s first word’s going to be?

“Yeah, we want it to do be dad. Dada,” Jeter admitted, adding, “You have your book. I need to read it.” Fallon joked, “A very smart person wrote a book,” and then showed a copy of Your Baby’s First Word Will Be Dada. He advised, “This is the thing, here’s the deal: Because you don’t think it’s a competition. And Hannah will say, ‘Oh, no, I’d like the baby to say dada. I’m cool with it.’ It’s a trick, it’s a trick! Everyone wants the baby to say mama.”

The former MLB player acknowledged, “I’m pretty sure that’s going to be a competition. My wife’s very competitive.” Jeter’s appearance on the “Tonight Show” came two days before he returns to Yankee Stadium, where his number will be retired. Fallon noted, “With your beautiful wife and it’s Mother’s Day, I’m crying already!” The host also surprised his longtime friend with a highlight reel of his storied baseball career.
