Derek Hough May Not Perform On Next Dancing With The Stars, Says Rep
Derek Hough may not perform on next Monday’s “Dancing With The Stars,” Gossip Cop has learned. As previously reported, the superstar dancer suffered injuries to both his feet, following a mishap during rehearsals for series’ anniversary show. Hough’s rep tells Gossip Cop that he sustained “sprains to his left ankle on both the inside and outside aspects and a bone bruise on the same ankle,” and was “diagnosed with a broken toe on his right foot.”
“Derek will remain in Los Angeles this week to rehab his injuries and his understudy will be filling in for him for New York Spring Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall in New York,” his rep confirms to Gossip Cop. “While it remains unclear at this time if Derek will be able to perform on the Monday April 27 episode of ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ his partner Nastia Liukin will train in Los Angeles this week with pro-dancer Sasha Farber to prepare for the live show.”
Hough’s condition was first revealed by Mark Ballas on Instagram on Tuesday, and Hough broke his silence on the issue Wednesday, posting the below photo. “Performing 10 shows a week at Radio City while rehearsing with Nastia for DWTS, I’ve never felt more healthy, strong and fit. But then a fluke accident happened that involved a light and some stairs,” wrote the show’s 5-time champion. “Can’t believe it, wish I had a cooler story to tell. All that dancing, flipping, jumping and the thing that stops me in my tracks is something as simple as a light and some stairs.”
Hough continued, “I’m doing everything I possibly can to have a quick recovery and I’m determined to come back stronger than ever. I appreciate all the love and support, you guys are the best. And thank you to Mark, BC Jean and Corky Ballas for staying with me at the hospital until 2am. Love you.” The pro added, “This is new territory for me, I’m usually able to work through injury but this one has literally floored me. But like I said before I’m determined to come back all guns blazing … soon!!! #setbackisasetupforacomeback.”
Unfortunately, however, while it remains to be seen, it’s possible that Hough will miss more than just Monday’s “DWTS,” and potentially the whole rest of the season. Stay tuned.
