Dennis Rodman Hit And Run “Person Of Interest” Investigation
Dennis Rodman is reportedly a “person of interest” in a hit-and-run investigation. The former NBA superstar was allegedly in a car accident in California early Wednesday morning before fleeing the scene.
The alleged incident took place on the I-5 highway in Santa Ana shortly after midnight. The California Highway Patrol was called to the site, where a damaged BMW sat following a crash. Officers were reportedly told that another vehicle was involved in the accident, and Rodman had been in that car.
But the basketball player was no longer there when police arrived. An investigation is ongoing, according to TMZ, which claims a witness saw Rodman doing karaoke at a bar prior to the accident. No charges have been filed against the athlete, and it’s unclear if he’s met with police yet. Gossip Cop has reached out to a rep for comment.
Rodman was arrested for DUI in 1999 and again in 2003. He pleaded “guilty” in the first case, and “no contest” in the second, which led to 30 days of home detention. He has been open about his troubles with alcohol over the years, and appeared on the shows “Celebrity Rehab” and “Sober House.” He was most recently in rehab in 2014.
UPDATE: A rep for Rodman tells TMZ, “We were just notified by the O.C. police last night and were waiting to talk to Dennis on who may have been in or driving his vehicle at the time of this incident. Dennis will certainly cooperate with authorities and allow them to inspect his vehicle for damages as well if these accusations are accurate.”
