Dennis Quaid Files for Divorce

Dennis Quaid has filed for divorce, six weeks after his wife Kimberly filed for legal separation.

In court documents filed in Los Angeles on Friday, the “Vegas” actor seeks joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s 4-year-old twins, and offers to pay spousal support.

The couple, who wed in 2004, have been down this road before.

Kimberly filed for divorce last March, only to withdraw her petition in May.

    and physical custody of the parties’ four-year-old twins; Mr. Quaid also
    offered to pay spousal support. The couple could not legally file for
    divorce until recently due to the fact that they moved to California within the
    past six months. Like Virginia, California law requires that the
    plaintiff in a divorce action be a resident of the state for at least six months
    prior to filing a divorce action. Barring allegations that would lead to
    a contrary result, it is likely that the Quaids will share legal custody of
    their children, allowing both to make religious, medical, and educational
    decisions. Primary custody to one parent with visitation to the other or
    shared physical custody are both possibilities for a judge to consider or for
    the parties to determine.
