It’s Official: Demi Moore Announces She’s Divorcing Ashton Kutcher (UPDATE)

Demi Moore announced on Thursday that she plans to divorce Ashton Kutcher after six years of marriage.

She said the decision came with “great sadness and a heavy heart.”

The decision to end their marriage comes after Kutcher reportedly cheated on his wife with 22-year-old Sara Leal in September, on the eve of the couple’s sixth wedding anniversary.

Moore said in a statement: ”It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton.”

Alluded to the scandal, she added, “As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.”

“This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation,” concluded the actress.

Kutcher responded on Twitter with the following message: “I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK”

Moore and Kutcher initially seemed like they were trying to reconcile after the infidelity bombshell, attending Kabbalah services and going on a camping trip, but Moore has now called it quits for good.

The couple met at a group dinner in New York City in 2003, and were married in 2005.

    Maybe Ashton was too young when they got married and when he got older he decided he wanted someone else. Shame Demi got hurt, hope she moves on to someone worthy of her.

    If he cheated then that’s despicable, in my opinion, but I have a lot of respect for Demi for not giving up on her marriage straightaway. She is pure class and she deserves a way better man than Ashton. I just hope she’ll finally find the one for her. She really deserves happiness after everything.

    Shame, never understood the point of cheating on someone, just break up with that person no need to cheat and cause unnecessary drama, if you’re not ready for a relationship don’t waste that person’s time or your own. I kinda wish Demi and Bruce would give it another go, I always liked those two together for some reason…

    Totally agree. Cheating is never the way. There is absolutely no excuse for it. If those rumors were in fact true and he did cheat, then that is really sad. But whatever the case, Demi carries herself with dignity and class, and that is something I respect. She’s keeping this as private as she can. I hope she finds a man she can truly be happy with, and I wish her all the best for her and her children.

    Yeah, at the time it was false, but it ended up happening anyway. As for the cheating, there is still no confirmation, so it’s still considered a rumour.

    She was with him for 8 years. Clearly she loved him to want to be with him for that many years, especially considering the age gap.

    Sometimes marriages don’t work out and if he did cheat, he doesn’t need forgiveness from you Holly. Is it possible you are projecting your hate towards Ashton because of the multiple dudes who’ve cheated on you?

    Exactly. Whether or not she even cheated with him, what makes them think that they’ll gain so much from it other than a tiny paycheck for their story?
