Demi Lovato says the party-centric celebrity lifestyle is partially to blame for some of her well-publicized personal struggles.

The singer-actress, who spent several months in a treatment center, has never explicitly responded to rumors of drug and alcohol abuse, but now reportedly acknowledges both played a role in her downward spiral.

“Promoters gave me drugs and alcohol in restaurants or clubs. They wanted me to come back so I would be seen there. They were basically kissing my a**,” she’s quoted as saying in a new interview with the British magazine Fabulous.

Lovato, who says she was “having fun,” goes on to admit that “being a celebrity can be dangerous,” since “nobody says ‘no’.”

“That’s why so many end up overdosing and dying,” she continues. “It could definitely have happened to me.”

Now Lovato, who says she is single and “not dating at all,” is working hard to stay on the straight and narrow, though she confesses she’s “slipped up a few times.”

“I’m not saying I’m perfect, or fixed, but I am learning to love and accept myself. My outlook is more positive and I am happy,” she tells the magazine.

Gossip Cop reached out to Lovato’s reps to verify the interview’s quotes, but has yet to hear back.

so what if someone offers you drink and drugs?? you took it from them you daft bitch, learn to say no, don’t blame others for your mistakes

  • Arcachnar

Don’t you think it is better to say nothing, if you don’t know what for kind of situation she was in? You clearly are too young to understand this now.

  • Eyeroll

Good for her. Young entertainers are being manipulated by the industry everyday and they’re too intimidated to say no. Any young person can say “no” but peer pressure is a mother when it comes to a career.

At least shes being honest about it. Of course, one doesn’t need to accept the drugs and whatnot that are offered to you. But too many people act like this kind of stuff isn’t going on. The enablers and hangers-on are what usually does these kids in.

Does she ever shut up about her past? My god. She’s just seeking attention and sympathies. I went through similar craps like hers but you don’t see me boasting about my recovery.

will you guys just stop shes trying her best shes a good person .

  • Arcachnar

You have got it all wrong. Demi does not do anything for herself. She just wants to reach those (girls AND boys) who are experiencing the same issues as her.

  • Arcachnar

I agree. Demi is a good person. We should be proud of her. She is a good role model. Trying to help those who have the same issues.

demi is a very strong and good person but she has so many life struggles and i fell that she needs to be supported totally and especially after what joe did to her and left her a times when she had the biggest problem and even if she gets no support she will find her own way but she will never backup by dying or something but i should say that we her fans will always support her
