Skyfall Wins Box Office; Breaking Dawn Part 2 Remains in Top Three
The James Bond blockbuster Skyfall won a very tight weekend box office, narrowly beating a group of holdovers that keep ruling the top half of the chart.
Skyfall earned $11 million for the top spot, beating the animated Rise of the Guardians, which took in $10.5 million for second place.
Meanwhile, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 remained in the top three with $9.2 million.
Fourth and fifth places went to the historical drama Lincoln and modern fable Life of Pi, which had box office receipts of $9.1 million and $8.3 million, respectively.
Rounding out the Top 10 were the new Gerard Butler–Jessica Biel film Playing For Keeps ($6 million), Wreck-It Ralph ($4.9 million), Red Dawn ($4.3 million), Flight ($3.1 million) and Killing Them Softly ($2.7 million).
