Debby Ryan Pleads No Contest For DUI Arrest
Debby Ryan has pled no contest to reckless driving following her DUI arrest in April. The Disney Channel star will reportedly serve three years probation, have to perform three months of community service and attend a DUI program.
As Gossip Cop reported, Ryan was arrested in Los Angeles in April after crashing her 2016 Audi into a a Mercedes while attempting to make a left turn. When police arrived at the scene, the 22-year-old actress failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody for felony drunk driving.
But Ryan managed to get her charges knocked down to misdemeanors, and was charged with driving under the influence, as well as driving with a .08 blood alcohol level or higher. But according to TMZ, both of those charges were dismissed during the actress’s court hearing on Thursday in exchange for her reckless driving plea.
Ryan is scheduled to appear in court again in September to determine how much she owes the other driver, who suffered minor injuries during the accident. The actress is best known for starring on the Disney series “Jessie” for four seasons, as well as performing as the opening act for Fifth Harmony in 2015.
As Gossip Cop also noted at the time of Ryan’s arrest, she tweeted in response, “Over the last few days I have had the chance to think about my actions, and I wish I had used better judgement. I recognize that I am a role model and have always worked hard to set a good example for my millions of fans. I am so sorry to disappoint everyone.”
