VIDEO: David Oyelowo Does Fantastic Oprah Impression On Ellen DeGeneres
David Oyelowo is winning raves for his portrayal of Martin Luther King, Jr. in Selma, but the British-Nigerian actor’s most impressive bit of acting may be his impersonation of the movie’s producer, Oprah Winfrey. The star gave her, and “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” audience, a taste of his impression on Friday’s show. Check out the video below!
The actor was explaining his voice work in the movie, and how vital it was to maintain the King character, even when he wasn’t shooting a scene. “You can’t be in Atlanta, playing Dr. King, where he’s from, talking [in a British accent].” At that point, Winfrey did her best impression of Oyelowo’s normal British speaking voice, and Oyelowo returned the favor, doing a brief but amazing “Oprah.”
As it happens, Oyelowo also did his Oprah impression this week on the “Late Show with David Letterman,” revealing that she is now best friends with Oyelowo’s son Caleb, even FaceTime-ing with him on his birthday recently. And young Caleb has some other high-powered Hollywood pals, too. Check out the videos below, and tell us what you think!
