David Furnish: My Madonna Comments Were “Blown Way Out of Proportion”

Elton John’s husband David Furnish says the media made too much of his unflattering comments about Madonna following her win at the Golden Globes.

To recap: Before Sunday’s awards, John sniped that Madonna didn’t have a “f**king chance” to win.

After she did take home a Globe for Best Original Song, Furnish ripped Madonna on Facebook, writing that her victory “truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit.”

Now, Furnish is back on Facebook — and singing a slightly different tune.

He wrote on Thursday, “Wow! What a tempest in a teapot. My comments regarding The Golden Globes have been blown way out of proportion.”

Furnish explained his Madonna rant by saying, “My passion for our film ‘Gnomeo & Juliet’ and belief in Elton’s song really got my emotional juices going.”

He ended on a magnanimous note: “I must say for the record that I do believe Madonna is a great artist, and that Elton and I wish her all the best for next week’s premiere of the film ‘W.E.’”

What do you think of Furnish’s statement?

I don’t think his comments were blown out of proportion. Was this suppose to be an apology because if so it sucked. Elton and David came off as being poor losers.

Madonna is a beautiful, classy woman. She deserved her award.

Decades of hard work have got her where she is today, She is great example for how to live your life. You can achieve anything is you try hard enough.

Losers. Good to see them out themselves for who they ‘actually are.’

Why not just say he’s sorry? Everybody says something dumb now and again. No shame in apologizing.

Refer to Elton’s song, “Sorry Is the Hardest Word To Say”.

I could care less one way or the other about Elton John, David Furness, or Madonna. Not a particular fan of any. What I will say is I find it extremely distasteful for any celeb to diss another. It is so low rent, declasse, tasteless, crass, fill in the blank.

Madonna is jealous of all people who gets more success than her. She can’t stand that someone is on the spotlight and not her. What happened to all the money she collected around the world to build schools at Africa and never completed those schools? And what about the workers that she hired and that said she gave them bad work conditions? What do you think about Elton John’s husband calling out her producer, William Orbit, for giving Madonna’s credit for his songs, which means that Madonna is paying him big bucks. What about her brother that she lets him sleep in the streets?
