David Foster NOT Planning Donald Trump Inauguration Performances, Despite Report
David Foster is NOT planning the performances for Donald Trump’s inauguration, despite a report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct the story.
The claim comes from the New York Post, which on Friday night announced, “David Foster organizing Trump’s inauguration performances.” It was specifically alleged that the music legend would be “playing a pivotal role in organizing Donald Trump’s inauguration” by not just lining up musical acts for the swearing-in ceremony, but also quite possibly taking the stage himself. “Even though the super producer supported Hillary Clinton in the election,” wrote the newspaper, “he is a longtime friend of Trump and has been wrangling talent to perform at the January event.”
The tabloid goes on note that the Trump team has been having trouble finding artists to take part in the event, and claims “Foster has swooped in to save the day — and both the names attached to Inauguration Day have close ties with the producer.” And, after pointing out Foster’s ties to rumored performer Andrea Bocelli, a so-called “insider” is quoted as saying, “I wouldn’t be surprised at all if David is at the piano when Andrea sings.”
But that won’t be happening. Foster is NOT planning to accompany Bocelli, nor is he working behind-the-scenes on “organizing” the performances. Foster himself tells Gossip Cop in an exclusive statement, “I was invited to participate and I politely declined. I have no idea where this story came from. Neither me nor my manager was ever contacted by Page Six or any other media outlet.”
Unfortunately, that’s indicative of the growing trend with fake news, whereby one publication publishes inaccuracies, and others pick it up without bothering to fact-check. Gossip Cop is happy to set the record straight.
