“Tom Cruise wants David Beckham to star in Mission: Impossible 4!” declares Showbiz Spy, which goes on to claim Cruise is “desperate o [sic] boost his box office with a blockbuster return to the action franchise and is suggesting his football megastar pal as part of his plans for the movie.”

Since Cruise allegedly wants “big stars” for the flick, a Showbiz Spy source says, “He’s suggesting David for a small cameo role that would be significant to the plot.”

Adds the so-called source, “David is a massive star with a huge following worldwide and a lot of people are going to want to see him in a movie.”

And while Cruise reportedly recently said he thinks Beckham would be a “terrific actor,” there are no plans in the works for him to appear in Mission: Impossible 4.

“This is blown out of proportion,” Cruise’s rep tells Gossip Cop, explaining that “he was asked a simple question on [a press] tour about if he thinks David would be a good actor and he said yes.”

But “then it ran into the ether in a crazy way that doesn’t [represent] what he said.”

So, if you were hoping to see Beckham with Cruise on the big screen, it might just be a mission… impossible.
